I've been thinking about doing a Hendrix vs Hip Hop mashup album lately but cant decide on a particular artist. Im leaning towards Eminem because hes got a bunch of material and i could call it the Slimi Mathers Experience or something like that. I'm open to suggestions so please leave some in the comments. Frankly im a bit concerned that nobody seem to like to comment....
Janis Joplin's Mercedes Benz has always been a song which resonated for me. It's just so Hip-Hop. Check out this work in progress that includes Walk It Out.

You know that I knew Janis Joplin and lived briefly in the same house with her (married to someone else) boyfriend (Travis Rivers). She was really nice to me. I worked at the Avalon Ballroom where Big Brother was the House Band, so I saw her a lot.
She always got involved with really creepy guys. She was a terrible drunk and used to drink cheap wine constantly. But she sure could sing!

Its one of my favorite places to Dj in San Francisco because the owners are very supportive of creative playlists. Friggin Missy Elliot!! Although I can't say there are any stand outs on her current album she and Timbaland did change the game. Here are a few Gossip remixes i did around the time it was released.
